Jake Reed pitched six shutout innings Friday as Oregon blanked the University of Hawaii baseball team 3-0 on opening night at Les Murakami Stadium in Honolulu.

Reed allowed only four hits with two walks and seven strikeouts.

Scott Squier took the loss for the Warriors, walking in a run as the Ducks took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Brent Thomas drove in a run with single in the fifth and Aaron Payne added an RBI bunt single in the seventh.

Adam Hurley was 2 for 3 for Hawaii.

Christian Jones yielded only one hit in three innings to pick up the save.

In 4 2/3 innings, Squier allowed two runs on four hits and three walks with two strikeouts.
